Permission neededSubmittals — Respond

If you're on the design team, the contractor's submittals come to you for review. You're emailed when a submittal with you on its workflow is first sent for review. This is the whole process.

1. Find the submittals waiting on you

  1. Open the project and choose Submittals in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Add filter, choose Waiting on (person), and tick your name. These are the submittals waiting on you.
  3. Anything past its date is marked Overdue. Click a column heading, such as Final due, to sort by it.
Tip

Save this as a view so it's one click next time: click + next to the tabs and name it "Waiting on me". See Save a view of the submittal list.

2. Open the package

Click the submittal's number or title. The Overview card says what's being submitted and against which spec section. The files are in the Attachments card. The Approval Workflow card shows each step, who's on it, and when it's due. When it's your turn, it says Your Response is Pending.

3. Return your stamp

  1. In Approval Workflow, click Edit response on your row.
  2. Write a Message saying what was marked up and what has to change.
  3. Add your marked-up PDF or stamped set under Attachments.
  4. Click your stamp: Approved, Approved as Noted, For Record Only, Revise & Resubmit, Rejected or Void.

To ask a question without stamping, add a comment instead.

4. What happens next

  • When everyone required on your step has responded, the next step starts, or the submittal goes back to its manager.
  • If it came back Revise & Resubmit or Rejected, the contractor revises it and it comes round again as a new revision.
  • Once it's settled, the project team distributes it, and you may be sent the final package.

What you can't do

You can't log, edit, send or distribute submittals, or change the workflow. You can only respond on steps you're on. Those other buttons aren't shown to you.
