If you're on the design team, the contractor sends you RFIs when something on the drawings or specs needs an answer. You're emailed when an RFI is sent to you. This is the whole process.
1. Find the RFIs waiting on you
- Open the project and choose RFIs in the sidebar.
- Click Waiting on in the filter row and tick your name. These are the RFIs waiting on you.
- Anything past its due date is tinted red and marked Overdue. Click a column heading, such as Due, to sort by it.
Save this as a view so it's one click next time: click + next to the tabs and name it "Waiting on me". See Save a view of the RFI list.
2. Read the question
Click the RFI's number or subject. The Request card has the question, who raised it, and when an answer is needed. Check Attachments, Specifications and Drawings for what it refers to, and the Comments for any discussion so far.
3. Respond
- In the Responses card, click + New.
- Write your answer in Message: the instruction the work is to be carried out to.
- Attach any sketch or marked-up drawing under Attachments.
- Click Save.
To ask a question back without answering, add a comment instead.
4. What happens next
- The RFI manager reviews the responses and marks one Official Response. That's the answer the work is carried out to.
- Then they close the RFI. You're notified when a response is marked official and when the RFI closes.
- If the question is reworded, the RFI gets a new revision and you're asked to respond again.
What you can't do
You can't raise, edit or close RFIs, or mark a response official. Those buttons aren't shown to you.
