Waiting on says who has to act next on an RFI. StruXure works it out from the RFI's status and responses, so nobody has to set it by hand.
Where you see it
- On the RFI list, in the Waiting on column, with how many days they've been waiting.
- At the top of the RFI's page: Waiting on: … · N days. Days are counted in working days.
- In the RFI's General Details card, as Waiting on.
Who an RFI is waiting on
| When the RFI is… | It's waiting on… |
|---|---|
| Draft | The person who raised it. |
| Open, waiting on answers | Every assignee ticked Required who hasn't responded yet. If nobody is ticked Required, everyone on the To line, until the first response arrives. |
| Open, with the responses in | The RFI manager, to mark one official and close it. |
| Open, with no one on the To line | The RFI manager. |
| Closed or Cancelled | Nobody. |
- Responses from people on the CC line don't change who it's waiting on.
- After a new revision, responses to the earlier wording don't count, so it goes back to waiting on the required assignees.
Pass an RFI to someone else
Sometimes an RFI is waiting on someone the rules can't see, for example a consultant the architect has asked. The RFI manager or an RFI admin can pass it to them.
- Open an Open RFI.
- Click More at the top of the page.
- Under Pass to, choose the person. Only people on the project are listed.
- Optionally, say why.
- Click Pass.
The message Passed on. appears. The RFI stays waiting on that person until they respond or comment, or until the RFI is revised, has a response marked official, or is closed or reopened. Then StruXure works it out again.
RFI admins can see every hand-off, with dates, on the RFI's History tab under Waiting on.
