RFIs can't be deleted. An RFI that's no longer needed is cancelled instead: it stays on the list with its number and history, and can be brought back.
Cancel an RFI
- Open a Draft or Open RFI.
- Click More at the top of the page, then Cancel.
- Read the confirmation and click Cancel RFI.
The RFI moves to Cancelled. It stops counting as outstanding, it isn't waiting on anyone, and it can't take responses or comments. Nobody is emailed, so if people were waiting on an answer, tell them.
Reopen a closed RFI
If the answer turns out not to settle the question:
- Open the closed RFI.
- Click More, then Reopen.
The RFI is Open again. Its official response is set aside (marked Superseded), and its answered and closed dates are cleared, so mark a new response official and close it again when it's settled. Nobody is emailed.
Reinstate a cancelled RFI
- Open the cancelled RFI.
- Click More, then Reinstate.
The RFI is Open again, with everything it had before. Nobody is emailed.
Good to know
- Every cancel, reopen and reinstate is recorded on the RFI's History tab, with your name and the time.
- If someone else changed the RFI while you had it open, you see Nothing changed — the RFI was already in that state, or somebody else moved it first. Check the RFI's status before trying again.
- Files attached to an RFI can be removed, but that deletes them for good. There's no recycle bin for RFIs or their files.
