The Subject and Message are the question people answered. To change them, you make a new revision, so anyone can see what was asked before and why it changed. Every other detail is edited in place without a revision.
- Open the RFI.
- Click Create New Revision at the top of the page. On a draft, the button is called Edit. You can also click the pencil at the end of the RFI's row on the list.
- A Restate the question form opens. It says which revision this is and which one saving will make.
- Change the Subject, the Message, or both.
- Fill in Why it was restated, e.g. "Reworded after the site meeting; the first version didn't say which grid". This is required. It goes on the RFI's history and alongside the kept wording.
- Click Save revision ….
The RFI's number goes up by one revision, e.g. from #12.0 to #12.1, and the message The question was revised and the revision recorded. appears. Its status doesn't change.
What a revision changes
- The earlier wording is kept. The Revisions tab lists every version, with when it was restated, by whom, and why. The current one is marked Currently Viewing.
- Assignees are asked again. Responses given before the revision don't count toward the new one, so required assignees owe a response again and the RFI is waiting on them again.
- An earlier official response stays on the RFI, but it no longer settles who the RFI is waiting on: it goes back to waiting on the assignees. Once the new wording is answered, mark that response official.
- Nobody is emailed. If people need to know the question changed, tell them in a comment.
If something goes wrong
- "Say why the question was restated; it goes on the trail": fill in Why it was restated.
- "Subject is required" or "Message is required": the subject and message can't be blank.
